Number Place is a number-placement puzzle game made by TWOYEARSOLD. Everything works offline, and your records stay on your device.

Android and iOS apps

• Apart from the one-time download number request described below, the app does not collect or share personal data. There are no ads, no tracking, no accounts and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
• Anonymous usage statistics — only if you agree: Off by default. The app asks once; if you choose “Send”, it sends anonymous records to help make the game easier to play: daily counts (games started and finished by size, variant and difficulty, hints used, time-to-solve ranges, the settings in use), the screens you moved through and where you stopped, and the kind of error if the app stops unexpectedly. Each stretch of play gets a random number that is forgotten when you leave the app; nothing links records to you or your device.
• In detail, the records contain: the app version, operating system version and display language; how many times the app was opened and how long it was open each day; for each kind of game, its size, variant, difficulty, mode (Casual, Challenge or Practice) and where the game came from (new, daily, past daily, collection, imported or practice drill), with the numbers of games started and solved, games given up, left unsolved or lost, hints, revealed numbers and undos, and time-to-solve ranges; the settings in use (theme, input mode, error highlighting, timer, sound, haptics, animations, and whether the language follows the device); the screens you moved through, the names of the actions you took (such as placing a number, a note, erase or undo) and how many times, with seconds since you opened the app; the kind of an unexpected error, the app’s own code locations it passed through, the screen and the last few actions; and how many records were discarded because the device could not send them.
• The statistics never include your name, email, advertising ID, device ID, location, the puzzle itself or the numbers you enter.
• Records are stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) in Tokyo (asia-northeast1). They do not include your IP address, and we do not store it. Usage flows and error records are deleted after 90 days, daily counts after 1 year.
• You can stop at any time with “Help improve the game” in Settings. Stopping also deletes the records waiting on your device that have not been sent yet. The app sends nothing without your agreement, apart from the one-time request for the download number described above; playing never needs the internet.
• Download number: The first time you open the app, whether or not you agree to anonymous usage statistics, it asks our server on Google Cloud (Firebase) in Tokyo, once, to increase a counter by one. The number that comes back (which download yours was) is stored only on your device. The request is empty: it carries nothing about you. Along with it goes only a device attestation issued by Google Play (Android) or Apple (iOS) (App Check, using Play Integrity on Android and App Attest on iOS), so the server can check that the request comes from the genuine app. The attestation is used only for that check and is not linked to the number or to you. On the server the number is not linked to anyone, is never attached to any other request, and your IP address is not stored. It is shown only on a page deep in Settings. If the request fails, the app tries again at a later start, and the game works the same. The web version does not make this request.
• Your settings, saved game, statistics and achievements are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.
• If you use your device’s own backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud backup on iOS), your settings and records may be carried to a new device through it. The app itself never sends them to us. On Android, your agreement to anonymous usage statistics and your notification settings are not carried over; the app asks again on the new device.
• Camera: used only when you choose to read a puzzle printed on paper. The image is used on your device only to read the digits and is discarded right away; it is never saved or sent. You can turn camera access off at any time in your device settings, and the whole game still works without it.
• Photos: when you read a puzzle from a photo, only the one photo you pick in your device’s photo picker is opened. The app does not access your other photos, and the photo you pick is neither saved nor sent.
• Notifications — only if you turn them on: Off by default. The app asks once whether to tell you when the day’s daily puzzle arrives; it can also, if you turn them on in Settings, remind you in the evening when your daily streak is about to end, or tell you once when new collection puzzles arrive with an update. These notifications are scheduled on your device by the app itself. Nothing is sent or received to show them, and no notification is pushed from a server. You can turn each one off in Settings, or turn off notifications for the app in your device settings.
• App updates (Android): when you open the app, it asks Google Play on your device whether a newer version is available, and if so shows a quiet line on the home screen. Tapping it opens Google Play’s update. The app itself sends nothing for this; Google Play handles the check (such as your app version and device type) under its own terms.
• Rating the app: after you have solved a few puzzles without hints, the app may ask the system once to show the standard rating window of Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Whether it appears is decided by the store. Anything you enter there goes to the store under its own terms and may be shown publicly in the store. As the developer, we can see ratings and reviews in the store’s developer console (Google Play Console or App Store Connect), including the name shown with each review. App Store Connect also shows the store’s country or region for each review, and Google Play Console shows information about the device. We may reply to reviews there. For our own records we keep only counts and star ratings, never the text or your name; to avoid counting a review twice, we keep the store’s review ID and normally delete it after 30 days. The app itself sends nothing for this.
• Purchases: Payment is handled by Google Play or the App Store, and your card and other payment details never reach us. As the seller, we receive sales reports from the store. These include the country or region and the device type. Google Play’s reports list each order and also include the device model and sometimes the city, state or region and postal code. No report from either store includes your name or email address. We use them only to count the orders and refunds for each day and to total the amounts of those orders. The reports stay with the store, and we do not copy individual order details into our own records.
• Sharing and exporting records: when you share a puzzle or a result, or export your records, the text or file is handed to your device’s share sheet. Where it goes is up to you. Importing records reads only the file you choose.

Web version

• The game itself does not collect personal data. Your settings and progress are stored in your browser on your device.
• Photos: when you read a puzzle from a photo, only the one photo you pick is opened and read inside your browser. It is neither saved nor sent.
• The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages.
• Some fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com), which receives your IP address to deliver them.
• There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.

Children

The app is intended for ages 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the anonymous statistics are sent only if the person using the app agrees.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
